Texas State's move to the Pac-12 in July 2026 represents a transformative step forward for our university - one that strengthens our position on the national stage and unlocks new opportunities for growth. The “Conference of Champions” has long been known for its combination of academic prestige and athletic success. Joining this historic league elevates the Texas State brand and reinforces our commitment to competing at the highest levels, both in the classroom and in competition.
The move enhances the university's national visibility, expanding the reach of Texas State to new audiences across the country. It bolsters our ability to recruit top-tier student-athletes and high-achieving students who are drawn to universities with strong academic reputations and a vibrant athletics culture. Increased media exposure, access to greater revenue opportunities, and the ability to host marquee matchups will strengthen the student experience and deepen alumni pride.
Competing in the Pac-12 will require increased investment to meet the rising costs associated with expanded travel, enhanced student-athlete support, and maintaining competitive facilities. The Light the Star campaign will play a pivotal role in our transition, as every gift fuels our ability to provide a first-class experience for our student-athletes and ensure Texas State thrives in this new era. Join us in this transformative moment and together we can help shape the future of Bobcat Athletics for generations to come.

Increasing funding for the Bobcat Club is essential to support the future growth of Texas State Athletics. With new NCAA legislation taking effect in 2025, universities will have greater flexibility in offering financial aid and support for student-athletes. In response, the Bobcat Club Excellence Fund has been established to directly support essential resources like scholarships, revenue sharing, academic support, nutrition, sports medicine, and other new opportunities to aid player recruitment and retention. This new funding model will not only sustain existing programs but also allow for the creation of new scholarships, opening doors for student-athletes who might not otherwise have access.
Facility Highlights
- Training Table on first floor will provide balanced, nutrient-rich meals that support performance, recovery and overall health
- Academic Center on second floor will feature individual study spaces, a computer lab, and tutoring rooms
- Practice Facility will feature a climate-controlled, fully enclosed 120-yard artificial turf field and be utilized by all 16 of our intercollegiate athletic programs
Improving the infrastructure supporting our athletic programs is essential to enhancing the overall student-athlete experience and positioning Texas State on par with our peers in Texas and across the nation. Following the completion of the Johnny and Nathali Weisman Football Performance Center and the William Trevillion IV Weight Room, the Indoor Practice Facility and the new Wellness Center represent the next steps in elevating our programs. These facilities will not only advance the holistic development, retention, and recruitment of student-athletes but also serve as symbols of the dedication, hard work, and vision that drive the future of Texas State Athletics.
Facility Highlights
- State-of-the-art pitching lab that will allow coaches to perform a complete evaluation and analysis of a pitcher's mechanics
- Fully-enclosed batting cages with sliding dividers that can open up to allow for fielding drills
- Baseball and Softball Locker Rooms

The continued investment in our baseball and softball programs is another critical step in elevating Texas State Athletics and ensuring our student-athletes have access to the best resources for growth and development. The new training facility will further position Texas State at the forefront of player development, blending technology, data, and innovation to enhance performance and reduce injury risk. Central to this project is the creation of the Texas State Pitching Lab and enhanced batting and training spaces, all designed to reflect the same commitment to excellence, preparation, and competitive success that drives every sport across our department.

Ensuring the long-term sustainability of our athletics program is a top priority. Growing our endowment is essential to providing consistent, reliable support that benefits our student-athletes year after year and secures financial stability for the future. Currently, earnings from more than 75 endowments and quasi-endowments help offset a significant portion of our $7 million in annual scholarship costs.
As college athletics continues to evolve - with increasing financial pressures, shifting regulations, and heightened competition - building a strong endowment is more critical than ever. It provides the foundation to maintain a competitive edge, invest in facilities, and deliver the resources our student-athletes need to thrive.

As the landscape of college athletics continues to shift, the prominence and visibility of our athletic program are more important than ever. Texas State will need to expand our base of support and grow attendance at each of our venues through community involvement, alumni outreach, and an aggressive sales approach. A key part of that effort is increasing season ticket sales, which serve as the foundation for building consistent, energetic, and intimidating home-field and home-court advantages.
Growing our season ticket holder base is about more than just filling seats - it's about fueling real momentum. Their commitment creates the environment that drives our student-athletes, attracts top recruits, and drives the growth of our programs.
